Vicky Frissen.

Get to know me. Kinda.

‘Twas the night after Christmas 1995 when I was put on this world, as part of a two-for-one deal. I was born and raised in the Netherlands, but I’m currently working on becoming an adult in Barcelona. Since my 21st year around the sun, I have spent more time at airports and on planes than in an actual office. I started freelancing right after graduation because well, all else was failing. My plans fell through, and it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I’ve been focussing on writing ever since, and wouldn’t trade it for the world (or financial or mental stability).

Written words have always made a big impact on me. On one hand, they’re a way to express myself. On the other, reading them makes me feel stuff. To tap into that scary sensation, I’m always trying new things: prose, poetry or product descriptions for toilet paper. This way I keep finding the fun in words and I learn something new every day. One of my poems, Swim, has even been published in a little book, available on Amazon. I know, I barely believed it myself.

Another thing about me: I prefer to have my ass in the sand at the beach, instead of an office chair. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job – but I am not living to work. That doesn’t mean I’m lazy, on the contrary: I try to be as efficient as possible. I’m a big fan of the new way of working. Digital nomads, remote work and coworking spaces have lit a fire in me that I am trying to spread, carefully (because well, fire) but passionately.

Want to get to know me even better? I’m flattered! Feel free to check my social media channels, or ask me anything.
